The company was founded in May 2005. Personnel is provided by NRW.URBAN, an organisation of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia.
Standortentwicklungsgesellschaft Vogelsang GmbH is a joint venture in conjunction with the Bundesanstalt für Immobilienaufgaben (Institute for Federal Real Estate) as the owner of not yet sold areas, the state of North Rhine-Westphalia (represented by the Ministry for Building, Housing, Urban Development, and Transport), and the regional authorities (represented by the districts of Düren and Euskirchen, the city region of Aachen, and the town of Schleiden).
